On June 27, 2009 Venice Beach will be transformed!
FREE to the Public!!! (10 am-6 pm)
At the Venice Beach Recreation Area
Windward Ave and Ocean Front Walk (north of Venice Blvd)

  • Over 150 exciting Eco-Exhibitors with important planet preservation tips.
  • Solar-powered Sound Stage - All day music, dance, entertainment (1 pm Welcoming Ceremony).
  • Fat Tire Beer Garden and Bicycle Valet - on Windward Ave. Next to Danny's Deli. Enjoy a brew!
    Park your bike and enjoy the festival - FREE!
  • Kid's and Family Court -with exotic animals, and interactive art and music shenanigans.
  • The One Planet Parade - Join the parade down Ocean Front Walk from Rose Ave to Windward (Meet in the Beach Lot at the end of Rose at noon!). A wild wacky and wonderful extravaganza!
  • Delicious Vegetarian Food Court
  • Venice Cooperative Art Exhibit
  • Recycling for SMALL e-waste: Cell Phones & Accessories, Cell Phone Batteries, Laptop Batteries
  • Filtered Water Stations - BYO reusable water bottle or cup!
  • Green Outposts for recycling/waste/and compost.

Public Parking and Bus Service:

  • Park on Venice Bl. or the beach lot at end of Venice Bl. (fills up early!) $6 before 9 am, $12 after
  • Westminster Elementary School parking lot, on Main St. between Brooks and Westminster Ave, for $10. Walk two blocks west to Ocean Front Walk, then head approximately 4 blocks south to the festival site.
  • Leave the car at home and take bus! Metro Bus route #333 ($1.25) leaves every 15 minutes all day Sat. from Union Station (or #33 from Downtown) to Windward and Pacific (only 1 block from the festival)!
  • Big Blue Bus #2 (only 75¢) leaves every 20 minutes all day Saturday from downtown Santa Monica to Windward and Pacific and back.

10:00 am: Ritual: Blessing of the Festival.
10:30 am: Sivananda Yoga Demonstration.
11:00 am: Tung Academy of Tai Chi Chaun.
11:20 am: California Dance Institute.
11:50 am: Bhajan Band.
12:20 pm: Crystal Davis and the Family Love.
1:00 pm: Welcoming Ceremony with Super Broke Brass and Tin and String Marching Ensemble, MC and EcoFest Producer Stephen Longfellow Fiske, Councilman Bill Rosendahl (Honorary Chair), Singer Miyuke, Assemblyman Ted Lieu. Ceremony includes giving the Art of Humanity Award to Sculptor Robert Graham, accepted by Anjelica Houston and Robert's son Steven.

1:30 pm: Super Broke Band continues to play.
2:00 pm: The Backboners.
2:30 pm: The Vegan Vixens.
3:00 pm: Amaya Yaharissa Bellydance Theatre
3:30 pm: Alfred Johnson
3:50 pm: Stefani Valadez
4:20 pm: The Luminaries
5:05 pm: Lisa Haley and the Zydecats
5:50 pm: Laughing Yogi
6:00 pm: Soundstage closes

 This festival will feature:

  • Solar Powered Sound Stage with a full program of performers, dignitaries, celebrities, and environmental speakers that will both attract and educate people. (The program will be posted here in June.)
  • Booths representing green businesses, environmental organizations, and various environmentally and globally oriented non-profit and educational groups.
  • Food Court featuring organic and healthy foods.
  • Artists from the Venice and LA area.
  • Interactive Art Zone/Creative Play Area where people of all ages, focused especially for children, will spontaneously create, play, and interact in artistic and environmentally aware ways.

Location:

The festival will be held at the Venice Beach Recreation Area, at the intersection of Windward Avenue and Ocean Front Walk. You can enter from Windward Avenue and Pacific Avenue, Venice. Parking is available at the Venice Beach lot at the end of Venice Blvd, and various lots in the area.
